TOKYO - A Chinese fishing boat was detained by Japanese authorities at waters near Japan's Nagasaki prefecture under the excuse of "untrue working log", Chinese Consulate General in Fukuoka confirmed early Saturday.
The boat registered in China's Zhejiang Province was detained late Friday off Goto city in Nagasaki, the consulate general told Xinhua, adding a total of nine crew members were on board and the captain was transferred to Hakata in Fukuoka Prefecture.
The Chinese consulate has asked the Japanese side to guarantee safety of the sailors and the boat and properly handle the case and demanded a visit to the skipper.
