Syrian refugees in Lebanon exceed 868,000

BEIRUT - The number of Syrian refugees seeking shelter in Lebanon has crossed the mark of 868,000, an increase of about 240,000 than last week's registration, the United Nations Higher Council for Refugees said on Sunday in its weekly report.
The report said that 819,239 refugees have been registered so far while there are 48,985 refugees who are still waiting to finalize their registration.
The refugees were distributed as follows: 243,106 in North Lebanon, 278,296 in the Bekaa, 192,956 in Beirut and Mount Lebanon and 104,881 in South Lebanon.
The report added that more than 7,000 Syrian refugees have received medical care during last week particularly in the field of post-delivery.
The number of Syrian refugees in the neighboring countries has exceeded two million and Lebanon host most of them, according to the report.
