KABUL -- The Afghan Interior Ministry on Tuesday said seven militants were killed and eight others wounded during military operations in different Afghan provinces since early Monday.
"Afghan National Police (ANP), army and the intelligence agency conducted several anti-terrorism joint operations in Laghman, Kandahar, Wardak and Farah provinces. As a result seven armed Taliban members were killed, eight wounded and eight others were arrested," the ministry said in a statement providing daily operational updates.
They also found and seized weapons, the statement said, without saying if there were any casualties on the side of security forces.
The Taliban insurgent group, which has been waging an insurgency of more than one decade, has yet to make comments.
The ANP also found and defused 24 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Laghman, Kandahar, Uruzgan and Wardak provinces over the same period of time, according to the statement.
