China, India join hands on border stability

BEIJING - China and India on Monday voiced common aspiration for maintaining peace and stability in their border areas.
The pledge was made between senior officials of the two countries' foreign ministries during the fourth meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs, held on Sunday and Monday in Beijing.
The two-day meeting was conducted in a candid and pragmatic atmosphere, according to the press release issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry after the meeting.
It said the two sides reviewed recent developments in China-India border areas, expressed satisfaction with the overall situation in these areas and reiterated that maintaining peace and stability there meets the fundamental interests of both countries.
During the meeting, China and India committed to take concrete measures to jointly safeguard border peace and tranquility.
