NEW DELHI - At least six people, including two children, were killed in landslides triggered by heavy monsoon floods in the southern Indian state of Kerala since Sunday night, a police official said Monday.
"The rains claimed six lives in the state's Idukki district. The victims were swept away by flash floods and crushed under the rubble which fell due to landslides in the area. A massive operation is on to track down any more people killed in the floods," he said, on condition of anonymity.
All government disaster management officials have been put on duty, the official added.
Monsoon floods had in June swept through the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, killing thousands and washing away towns and roads.
