Pandemonium for Scotland’s new celebrities

Yang Guang arrives at Edinburghairport and looks out of a cage on Dec 4, 2011. A pair of giant pandas, Tian Tian and Yang Guang, arrived in Scotland on Sunday, for the start of their ten year stay in the UK. China announced in January that it would loan two pandas to Britain as part of a 10-year agreement on panda conservation signed by the two countries. Both Yang Guang and Tian Tian were born in 2003 and have been living in Sichuan province ever since. They will be the first giant pandas in the UK for 17 years after Ming Ming was sent back to China from London Zoo in 1994. China sent two pandas Jia Jia and Jing Jing to Britain in 1974.
