BUENOS AIRES - Goalkeeper for Argentina's Newell's Old Boys, Ezequiel Unsain, will be out for 45 days due to a double fracture in his lower jaw caused by accidentally colliding with Boca Juniors player Carlos Tevez's knee.
The incident happened on Saturday night during Boca's 4-1 win in the Premier division match held in La Bombonera Stadium, Buenos Aires.
In the last minutes of the first half, Tevez was in a one on one with 20-year-old Unsain when he accidentally hit the goalie in the face with his left knee. At that point, Boca were up 3-0.
Unsain was substituted and on Sunday he was operated on and according to doctors, he will be out for around 45 days while he recovers.
Unsain's injury came at a difficult time for Newell's since their coach Lucas Bernardi left the club after a 2-0 defeat against Central, in the city of Rosario last week.
Diego Osella has been hired to coach the Rosario-based side even though he currently coaches Bahia Blanco's Club Olimpo.
Tevez received no card or punishment from the referee during the match.
