BEIJING, Feb. 22, 2016 – NBA All-Star 2016 in Toronto, Canada - the first NBA All-Star held outside the United States - registered significant records and increased fan consumption across digital, television, social and retail in China.

Kris Wu became the first Chinese-born participant in the Celebrity Game and also served as a guest commentator for Tencent during Verizon Slam Dunk and All-Star Game.

As the first NBA All-Star held outside the US, NBA All-Star 2016 was aired and livestreamed by nine media partners in Greater China, including CCTV-5, BesTV, Tencent, GDTV, BTV, Videoland, Taiwan Mobile, Elta and NowTV. Along with its comprehensive coverage of the BBVA Compass Rising Star Challenge, State Farm All-Star Saturday Night and the 65th NBA All-Star Game, Tencent became the first Chinese media company to livestream the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game presented by Mountain Dew

Tencent enabled Chinese fans to vote via QQ for the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game MVP, Rising Stars Challenge MVP and NBA All-Star Game MVP. This marked the first time voting for the Celebrity Game MVP was open to fans outside of North America.

In addition, three players from the Chinese Basketball Association and one player from the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association were selected to participate in the second annual Basketball Without Borders Global Camp in Toronto. The camp consisted of the top 53 high school aged boy and girl players from 27 countries and territories. Players from Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe had the opportunity to learn directly from NBA and FIBA players and coaches during the 3 day camp.
