NANNING - China's Liu Yang performed with power and precision to win the rings crown with 15.933 at the world gymnastics championships on Saturday.
Brazil's Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti placed second with 15.733 points while China's You Hao and Russia's Denis Abliazin finished joint third with 15.700.
Liu's strength moves and swinging combinations helped him to get the highest execution score.
Since placing fourth last year, Liu Yang has upgraded his difficulty, a strategy that earned him the top ranking in the final.
Silver medalist Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti from Brazil moved up from his fourth place in qualifications to second, but failed to retain his rings title from 2013.
