BEIJING - Chinese super league club Guangzhou Evergrande has agreed a deal of seven million euros with Russian side Spartak Moscow on Paraguayan striker Lucas Barrios, said the Chinese club on Saturday.
"Spartak Moscow will pay seven million euros for the transfer, both the player and our club are satisfied with the agreement," said the club via its official website.
"Guangzhou Evergrande will withdraw its charges once the transfer procedure is done," the club said in a statement.
Barrios angered Evergrande when he flew home for a match against Chile which took place in early June and did not return to China until early July, which the club said violated the contract terms.
In the meantime, Barrios tried to contact other clubs for a transfer and accused the super-rich club of delay in paying his salary.
Evergrande denied all the accusation and sent the matter to FIFA for arbitration at the end of June.
"We can now confirm that our services received a contractual claim from the Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande against the player, Lucas Ramon Barrios. The matter is now pending and being investigated." FIFA said early this week via an E-mail to Xinhua.
"Barrios' agent contacted the club immediately after FIFA sent the notification to the player, the transfer process goes smoothly and we are satisfied with the price," a source close to the club told Xinhua.
Barrios, who helped Borussia Dortmund win two titles in Bundesliga from 2010 to 2012, signed a four-year deal with Evergrande in June last year on a record breaking transfer fee of 8.5 million euros and reportedly annual salary of five million. He scored 13 goals in 33 appearance with the Chinese club.
