The effort to build a well-off society in an all-around way constitutes a key part of the country's efforts to realize the well-mapped Chinese dream, says a People's Daily editorial.
As Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, said of Chinese people's dreams in November 2012 when being elected to the position, they expect better education and medical care, more stable jobs and more satisfactory incomes, and a more reliable social security and more comfortable housing and beautiful environment.
"People's yearning for a better life will be the goal of our work," he said.
China is now in its decisive stage of building a well-off society in an all-around way and achieving this goal will be a key step toward realizing the Chinese dream and rejuvenation of the nation. It is the first time that the building of such a society has been put under the broad context of the Chinese dream and viewed as an important milestone for the nation's revival.
An all-around well-off society means China's 1.3 billion people, including those in less-developed rural areas, all enjoy a well-off life. It means the country will have clean officials, a clean government and clean politics, and there will be both a better material life and a better spiritual life for all. In such a society, every member will have equality and justice.
The key to whether the country succeed in its bid to build such a society lies in development. A series of economic theories and ideas elaborated by Xi at a time when the country's economy has entered a new normal have all outlined the outstanding problems and contradictions, and they will help comprehensively boost the country's economic and social development.
