A capsule hotel, a concept which originated in Japan, recently opened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province and became popular overnight for its price and convenience. Each of the capsules has an area of about 2 square meters. Although small, the hotel is equipped with bed, desk, TV, WIFI and showers like regular hotels.
The owner of the Jinsha hotel said it costs 20,000 yuan ($3,222) to build a single capsule and a guest needs to pay only 60 yuan to a night, which is why it is popular among students and backpackers.
