Transformative model

Young artist Sterling Ruby presents his first solo exhibit of sculptures and installations entitled "Vampire" in China. In the show the artist explores the idea of the vampire as a way of reassessing the uncontrollable and insatiable drives that inform the darker aspects of human behavior. Known for the issues he confronts in his interdisciplinary practice, Ruby's work often examines the relationship of the individual to society.

Opera with local touch

There's realism rather than fairy tale in the opera of Cinderella by French director Petrika Inesco. The prince's teacher tells him how to distinguish girls with a kind heart; he is taught to disguise himself as a beggar to select his future bride. Cinderella's stepsisters and stepmother are mocked for their worship of money. Fan dancing and pyramid building add Chinese elements to the show.
