Suspect detained for kindergarten poisoning

Police have detained a woman who allegedly poisoned food in a kindergarten in southwest China's Yunnan province that killed two pupils, local authorities said Wednesday.
Zhao Jianzhi, 44, from Shangpinglong Village in Qiubei County of Wenshan Prefecture, was detained for poisoning, according to a statement from the county Public Security Bureau.
Thirty-two children showed symptoms of food poisoning on March 19 in Jiajia Kindergarten in Pinglong Village under Qiubei County. Two died after treatment. The kindergarten had a total of 76 students, all of whom were sent to hospital for observation.
According to the statement, Zhao, former security guard at Jiajia kindergarten, committed the crime in revenge for being forced to move out of her guard's room for the kindergarten's use.
She confessed that she put poison into a bag of snacks and left it in the classroom.
