Wu Yingyin's popularity in the 1940s was comparable to Zhou Xuan, Bai Guang and Li Xianglan. Even to this day, those in the older generation can still sing some of her well-known songs. Her original number Da Di Hui Chun (The Earth Returning to Springtime) was well received both at home and abroad. She died of lung-related complications in Los Angeles in 2009 at age of 87.
