The 'Sexxx Dreams' singer visited the French landmark - home to the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci - and became emotional when she saw portraits by US artist Bob Wilson.
She Tweeted: "Me & @BrandonVMaxwell crying w BOB WILSON's portraits. That's me on the wall!"
Gaga later added on LittleMonsters.com: "I went to the Louvre today and saw the portraits Bob Wilson made of me. It was such a special moment.
"I wore archive Gianni [Versace] and wore my hair in metallic braids. It was a day I'll never forget."
The 27-year-old singer looked particularly striking in the outfit she wore for the visit, which included a long silver braided wig, metallic chequered catsuit and huge black platform shoes.
Robert's exhibition at the Louvre is titled 'Living Rooms' and features a fifty minute video of Gaga posing as different works of art, including 'The Death of Marat' by Jacques-Louis David and 'Head of St. John the Baptist' by Andrea Solario.
Speaking of working with the 'Born This Way' star to create the portraits, Bob has said: "She's sort of serious. Not your ordinary pop star.
"She would look at the image and after a while she would look at her face in a mirror and something happened, and I would shoot her ... There's a nobility to her. She's a real princess."
