The 'Behind the Candelabra' star, who is nominated for Best Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie, has confirmed his wife, whom he is believed to have recently reunited with after they temporarily separated last year, is unable to attend the 71st annual ceremony with him in Los Angeles.
The 69-year-old actor told EOnline.com: "She's back east with the kids."
But Michael, who has two children, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, with the 43-year-old Welsh beauty, insisted that all is well between them.
He said: "All is good. All is good."
The couple recently spent Christmas at their home in Bedford, New York together before they jetted off on a skiing holiday to Quebec, Canada.
Michael insisted in October that the couple were still working on their marriage and he remained hopeful they would work things out after they confirmed they were taking a temporary "break" from their 13-year marriage in August.
He said at the time: "Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn't necessarily mean that's the end. I'm very hopeful."
