The stature of China's most famous youth novelist Guo Jingming is not in doubt - he's just 1.47 meters tall (or short).

To the author's credit he does not complain about his lack of length and was big enough to recount an incident that happened to him that made him look small.

He wrote recently on his micro blog that when he tried to board a plane, an airport security official asked him why he was not accompanied by his parents - obviously thinking he was so small he must be a minor.

Guo's post went viral and got more than 14,000 comments in two days. Not everyone was polite, however, and one netizen cruelly suggested that being so tiny, he should have lined up with "differently-abled" people.

The 28-year-old writer responded by saying: "I'm not tall but it does not count as a disability."

"Shortness was handed down by my parents, but I don't complain. There are many blind, deaf-mute and handicapped people in the world. You're healthy and you should do something more meaningful, rather than laughing at other people's defects," the author riposted.

"You're not the tallest person in the world."

It must be tough being rated "toxic" at the box office, but actor and singer Eason Chan seems to be dealing with it.

In the latest rankings for the "10 worst box-office films" in Taiwan for 2011, he starred in three of them. The appalling A Lover's Discourse was bottom of the list and sold just 80 tickets on its first day at the box office.

Even so, Chan made nearly $6 million from a huge concert tour during 2011, so clearly his singing career is still blooming.

Chan recently caused a mini-storm when he claimed he was autistic. He did so at a Beijing press conference to promote his new album, simply called ?.

"I'm autistic. I feel lonely sometimes, after a concert, sitting in the car and watching the streets go by," he said. "Everyone living in today's society is sick, one way or another.

"Some eat too much, others eat like birds. Some can't sleep at night while others can't wake up."

The singer said his new album is all about sharing problems and that's why his favorite song is Autistic Patient.

Jay Chou still sits atop the Chinese world as the undisputed chairman of pop, but his ex-girlfriend Jolin Tsai has knocked him off the product endorsement tree.

The 31-year-old Tsai made $15 million from shooting 21 TV commercials, while Chou came second in the rankings with just 10 commercials that earned him $12.5 million. To be fair, Chou also managed the Hollywood blockbuster The Green Hornet, so it's not as if his brand name will be any less valuable for 2012.
