Singer Chyi Chin was set to return home earlier this week after being hospitalized for burn injuries, when a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment went wrong.

He suffered second-degree burns on his face and back after cupping treatment at his Beijing home, which is done by heating cups and applying them to the body for an airtight seal, thereby creating suction and effecting blood flow.

The accident occurred when the therapist spilled alcohol on him, causing a fire on the 51-year-old Taiwan singer's body. He has canceled commercial performances for the next three months and according to Apple Daily stands to lose at least NT$48 million ($1.7 million). However, he says he won't sue as the TCM center would not be able to pay out much anyway.

Meanwhile, Cecilia Cheung is never far from the news these days, having been embroiled in a sex scandal and recently divorcing the TV drama superstar Nicholas Tse.

In her first interview after becoming a single lady again, the singer-actress revealed what lessens she has learned from life over the past two years.

She says she has begun to respect and believe in herself, while admitting she has made mistakes, so as to gain respect from her fans, Tse and her two sons.

The 31-year-old, inevitably it would seem, broke down in tears at one point during the interview, when it came to her children. She says she feels bad that other children at her son Lucas' school have lunchboxes made at home, whereas Lucas always has lunchboxes bought at a store.

Cheung, who has just signed a massive deal with a new management company, also claims she doesn't care about money or her image so much any more, saying she no longer buys brand-name goods and even takes a taxi to work instead of driving herself. A Hong Kong singer who has managed to maintain a long and prosperous career without lurid revelations dogging her, is Karen Mok, who is counting down the days to her wedding in October.

"Ten days to go!" Karen excitedly posted on Wednesday, on her Sina Weibo microblog. The 41-year-old is to marry her German fianc in Italy, where she originally met the now divorced father of three children, when she was just 17 - her "first love" apparently. Congratulations in advance.

Taiwan actress, singer and model Vivian Hsu is obviously worried about the biological clock ticking away at 36 and doubly so now that her year-long romance with the heir to a fortune, Leo Ho, appears to have come to an end.

She admitted as much on a TV chat show when asked if she wanted to get married, replying, "No plans to get married. I want to concentrate on my work."

Ho, it would seem, doesn't want to give up his jet-setting ways at 31 and has been spotted going out to bars again, according to China Times.
