Smilehaz has set up a group chat on Tencent's QQ, where he keeps his followers posted on what he is doing. To show groups like this, Guo and his fellow model aficionados also get a chance to socialize with one another.
Guo says he dislikes handing out money, but to show his respect and gratitude to the broadcasters he admires he donates yuwan, or fish balls, monetary tokens he earns on Douyutv by logging onto it every day and making comments.
One fish ball is worth one cent, and Guo usually gives 100 a time, "just in case I run into someone I really like but has no yuwan left".
When he plays League of Legends he clicks open the singing show of Feng Timo, a young woman who sings "just the way" he likes and talks sweetly, and lets her voice flow in the background. Occasionally after a battle in the game, he will watch her to unwind, he says.
Young singers like Feng have become an important aspect in the world of online broadcasting. Feng can attract about 200,000 fans when she sings, and anyone who takes particular pleasure in something she is singing can show their appreciation simply by pressing a few buttons that will launch an animated rocket that will beam up on the screen. Showing that appreciation will cost the viewer 500 yuan, about a half of which will go into Feng's pocket.
Like other League of Legends fans, Guo watches professional team players fighting one another. A high-level game can easily attract more than 3 million viewers.
