The Chinese ambassador to Australia, Chen Yuming launched an art exhibition called "Beauty of Tibet" in Canberra, Australia Wednesday.
The exhibition displayed over 30 paintings of diverse Tibetan themes, depicting the marvelous scenery of Tibet and the changing life of Tibetan people today. Leading Chinese artists including Li Xiaoke also brought their work to the exhibition.
Chen said the beauty of Tibet not only lies in its natural landscape and culture, but more importantly in its development.
"Tibet has seen great strides since 1951 with booming economic growth, well-preserved cultural traditions and a natural environment," said the ambassador.
He also said China-Australia relations had withstood the test of the changing international situation over the past 40 years and now it was time to implement the consensus reached by leaders following Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard's successful visit to China last April.
"We should deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, so we can create another 40 years of glorious development in China-Australia relations."
More than 200 guests from Australia from political, cultural, business and academic sectors as well as overseas Chinese in the country attended the launch reception held at the Embassy.
The exhibition will move to the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center on May 31. It will display 140 paintings and 140 photographs, collected by China Tibet Online.
