Tuesdays with Morrie

Welcome to the classroom of Professor Schwartz, the star of US writer Mitch Albom's book Tuesdays with Morrie. The book gives 14 life lessons with topics varying from how to face love, aging and death. The Godot Theater Company of Taiwan will stage a Chinese adaptation of Albom's personal memoir on the touching and inspiring 14 Tuesdays spent with his dying college professor. Professor Schwartz is played by respected Taiwan performer Jin Shi-jye, 62, who has been a playwright and theater performer for 35 years.

This Life of Mine, on stage
A one-man adaptation of prominent Chinese writer Lao She's novel This Life of Mine will hit the stage in Guangzhou on April 19 and 20. The play tells the tragic story of the life of a low-ranking policeman in Beijing in the early 20th century, integrating historical incidents with personal tragedies as the end of the imperial regime approaches. With Shu Yi, Lao She's son, as consultant on the play, Beijing native Fang Xu brings the character to life with Beijing dialect and subtle body language.

Decoding Duchamp
A scholar specializing in the history of modern and contemporary Western art will decode contemporary art at a lecture on Saturday, inviting the audience to enter the world of Marcel Duchamp (1887-1968). Wang Ruiyun from the Chinese National Academy of Arts will show you how playful contemporary art can be.
