10 killed in SW China landslide

GUIYANG -- Ten people have died and seven have been rescued so far, after heavy rain caused a landslide in a village in southwest China's Guizhou Province Friday morning.
Twenty-nine people were buried by debris when the landslide occurred around 5:30 a.m. in Pianpo Village, Dafang County, in the city of Bijie. As of 5 p.m., rescuers had pulled 17 people out of the rubble, but 10 were pronounced dead at the scene, according to county government.
The search for the remaining 12 missing continues.
The region has seen heavy rain over the past few days.
