As China Daily, the leading English newspaper in China, will celebrate its 35th anniversary on Wednesday, the seminar was organized as an opportunity to foster sharing and communication between Chinese and foreign experts, bloggers and readers and to provide them more opportunities to share their China stories.

Harvey Dzodin, a veteran journalist and senior adviser to Tsinghua University, said in his address: "I began reading China Daily in 1988 when I first came to China. Before my trip I held some biased views toward China, primarily due to lack of understanding. All that changed after I began reading China Daily, which became more like a window and a mirror as the paper carries objective, comprehensive and in-depth articles focused on both domestic and foreign news."
Phoebe Sudargo, a journalist with China.org.cn and currently an exchange student at Tsinghua University, shared her opinions about a biased view of China molded by western media. She suggested that critical, objective and straightforward reporting principles should be taken into Chinese journalism to better meet the needs of those who are curious about China.
