BEIJING - Beijing has enhanced its security and anti-terrorism response with heavier police presence and stricter checks on parcels, Beijing Public Security Bureau said Saturday.
The Chinese capital raised its security level on Nov 15, two days after the Paris terrorist attacks, according to a source with the bureau.
More police have been mobilized across the city, and more stringent checks will be imposed on courier services, large events and public transportation.
An emergency security conference was called on Nov 15, during which Police Chief Guo Shengkun, who also heads the national counterterrorism leading group, underscored the need to heighten awareness and boost preventative measures.
