BEIJING -- China on Monday reiterated its opposition to all forms of terrorism after the apparent murder of a Japanese hostage by Islamic State (IS) militants.
"China opposes terrorism in all forms and all radical acts against civilians," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a daily press briefing.
"We call on the international community to further enhance cooperation and jointly face up to the threat of terrorism in accordance with the UN Charter and other basic norms of international relations," said Hua.
A video released late Saturday suggested that Japanese hostage Haruna Yukawa was killed.
The new video comes after another clip on Tuesday featuring IS militants demanding a ransom of 200 million U.S. dollars within 72 hours in return for the two Japanese hostages.
