Every city in Hebei province may have a Hong Kong-style commercial street in the future, in order to promote mutual understanding, according to the Hong Kong Hebei Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber was founded on May 18 during the China (Langfang) International Economic & Trade Fair, with the aim of promoting economic and trade communications.
Zeng Zhixiong, chairman of the chamber, said Hong Kong is the largest contributor to the province’s inward capital and the top destination in which Hebei companies invest.
Nearly 6,000 companies from Hong Kong invested in Hebei by the end of 2013. The investment totaled $37.85 billion, accounting for almost 60 percent of the province’s inward capital, xinhuanet.com reported.
Last year, 43.7 percent of the province’s outward investment went to Hong Kong, totaling $520 million.
