Beijing open for 'equal' dialogues with Taipei |
Ma Xiaoguang, State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokesman, made the remarks when answering a question on the island's opposition Democratic Progressive Party's positive response to a Japanese proposal on a "Taiwan relations law."
Ma expressed hope that the two sides maintain peaceful development of cross-Straits ties.
At the press conference, Ma said the mainland has always insisted on cross-Straits cooperation in relation to waters surrounding the East China Sea and South China Sea.
As to Taiwan's leader Ma Ying-jeou calling on relevant parties to solve airspace disputes over the East China Sea in a peaceful way, Ma Xiaoguang said both sides of the Straits are of one family and it is a common responsibility to safeguard the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation.
