Free WiFi will shortly be available on all regular trains originating in Hunan province for the first time in China, Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
The Guangzhou Railway (Group) Corp and a technical company in Jiangsu province developed a "WiFi Passenger Train Integrative Services System", which has successfully passed performance tests and can be accessed for free via railwifi.cn on the trains, the report said.
The system also provides services such as "Train Cinema", "Information for Passengers" and a "Travel Guidebook". Twenty-three regular trains originating in Hunan province already have WiFi installed, as will the remaining 25 trains soon.
