The desiccated body of a woman was found on Feb 5 in Kumtag desert in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and police are seeking information to help identify the woman, China Central Television reported on Thursday.
The dead woman is preliminarily thought to be a tourist who had been on a walking tour.
A motorcycle rider discovered the body in the desert and reported it to police.
The woman was clad in a pink jacket and jeans, and carrying an orange backpack.
Police of the autonomous region's Shanshan county asked for clues that can help them find the dead woman's family.
