A tour guide in Yunnan province has been fined 5,000 yuan ($825) for calling two tourists foul names, according to an online post by the provincial authorities.
Zhu Xiuqin, the tour guide, also had 10 points removed from her tour guide certification. The post didn’t mention how much her total score is, but usually the total score needed for tour guide certification is 10.
The tourism company Zhu worked for, Yunan Jiuzhou Tourism Service Co, was also fined 10,000 yuan.
The punishment came after a video showing a tour guide and two tourists abusing each other was uploaded to the Internet recently.
The Yunnan Provincial Commission of Tourism Development found after investigation that Zhu disputed with two tourists at the Stone Forest Scenic Spot in Kunming, the provincial capital, on Jan 1.
