YANGON - Chinese Embassy in Myanmar and China-Myanmar Friendship Association on Thursday jointly donated 120 million Kyats ($122,448) to a charity school in Yangon.
The donation was made to Su Taung Pyae charity school for construction of a three-storey school building there.
The donation ceremony at the Sedona Hotel was attended by Chinese ambassador Yang Houlan, Chairman U Sein Win Aung and Secretary General U Soe Win of Myanmar-China Friendship Association and representatives from other friendly social organizations.
"Chinese Embassy has always attached importance to supporting the development of the education in Myanmar. We hope our effort will help further promote Pauk-Phaw (fraternal) friendship between our two peoples," Ambassador Yang said in his speech.
There are more than 1,700 students in this charity school, most of whom are orphans or from poor families across the country.
