Procuratorate authorities in Hunan province have investigated 1,673 officials on accusations of bribery, embezzlement and dereliction of duties this year, according to the local procuratorate.
Among the corruption cases, 178 officials in 133 cases were involved with problematic funds of 1 million yuan ($164,700) and above, said Lu Leyun, vice-procurator of Hunan Provincial People's Procuratorate.
Lu said during a news conference on Monday morning that 80 of the investigated officials were at county level or above.
The procuratorate authorities will attach greater importance to the investigation of crimes carried out in relation to lawsuit procedures, Lu said.
On March 29, Jiang Yongqing, former Party chief of Liling, was investigated by the Hunan Provincial Party Commission for Discipline Inspection for "grave discipline violation".
