'Jurassic Park 3D' atop Chinese box office

BEIJING - The 3D version of sci-fi adventure "Jurassic Park" remained top of China's box office charts in the week ending September 1, taking about 100 million yuan ($16.34 million), according to a film industry weekly.
Steven Spielberg's dinosaur classic has grossed over 300 million yuan since it premiered on August 20 in China, according to China Film News on Tuesday.
"Monsters University," an American 3D computer-animated comedy, was second in the charts, taking 180 million yuan since its debut on August 23.
"The Stolen Years," a film directed by Hong Kong director Chun-Chun Wong and debuted during the week, came in third, taking in about 64 million yuan.
Leonardo DiCaprio's "The Great Gatsby" has made 27 million yuan since premiered on August 30 in China.
In the week from August 26 to September 1, 12 million people visited cinemas nationwide, with a weekly box office total of 400 million yuan, slightly down on the previous week.
