LANZHOU - Heavy rain that has hammered Northwest China's Gansu province since Tuesday has affected 300,000 people in seven cities, authorities with the provincial civil affairs department said on Friday.
One person has been killed and 2,267 houses were damaged in rain-triggered floods. About 34,100 people have been evacuated, according to local authorities.
In the worst-hit Wenxian county of Longnan city, the rainstorm at one point had cut off water, power supplies and communication in Bikou town. Water and power supplies are resuming gradually in the town.
