Suspected bullet holes were found in windows of a local newspaper office in Yibin, Sichuan province, but no cartridges or bullets were found, Huaxi Metropolis Daily reported on Aug 6.
Seven such holes were found in four offices of the newspaper, Yinbi Daily, as of Monday afternoon.
The window was believed to be broken at night, when nobody was in the office.
The newspaper has informed its staff to "make sure the glass windows are closed and curtains are drawn when working" and "not walk around the window to avoid possible danger".
Police said an investigation is under way.
