The number of criminal cases in Beijing dropped sharply after the city launched a special campaign to crack down on crime.
The Beijing Public Security Bureau said on Tuesday that criminal cases had dropped 15 percent in the last 10 days, compared with the 10-day period before police started the campaign on July 25.
Beijing police have increased patrols on busy streets, shopping malls, bus stations and scenic spots, especially at night and on holidays.
Social order disruption cases dropped 45 percent year-on-year, police said.
The campaign will last 100 days.
