Heat thwarts suicide attempt

A man who climbed a 40-meter tower in a suicide attempt in Hengyang, Hunan province, fainted due to the scorching heat and was rescued by firefighters, China News Service reported on Friday.
The man fainted at top of the tower due to the heat after fighters tried in vain to encourage him to come down.
He was later rescued by firefighters using an aerial ladder. According to the local weather bureau, the average outside temperature in the city reached 37 C to 39 C at the end of July.
