Chongqing police uncovered a juvenile gang of thieves in late July after a homeless man found a large sum of cash in a dustbin, according to Chongqing Economic Times.
Police received a report on July 13, saying a homeless man was counting a large sum of money on the street. The man could not account for the origin of the money and admitted he found it in a dustbin.
Investigation found the money, totaling 10,900 yuan ($1,777), was illicit earnings hidden by a gang since June.
One gang member hid the money in the dustbin without telling his partners. He then turned himself in on July 27. Police have detained the primary suspect.
