Three volunteers visited the Lhasa Welfare Home for Children in the Tibet autonomous region and made donations on Aug 1.
Jin Zimeng, Li Kecen and Lang Yihan, from the University of Toronto, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Renmin University of China, donated 10,000 yuan ($1,630) plus stationery and bedding.
They said they were fascinated with Tibetan culture, especially the religious culture, while visiting famous Tibet temples such as the Jokhang Temple, Ramoche Temple and the Potala Palace.
They said they saved their pocket money to make the donation.
"We will carry on caring and supporting these kids, and we urge more people to pay close attention to these kids," said Jin.
The welfare home for children was established in 2012. There are 150 orphans and disabled children living here.
"We are grateful for the donation made by these young hearts. We hope more people help the children," said Drolma, head of the welfare house.
