Half the paper shredders recently tested were substandard, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said on July 29.
The administration inspected 20 batches of paper shredders from 11 companies in seven provincial regions. Of those tested, 10 batches from seven enterprises failed to meet government standards, the administration said.
Quality problems with the shredders included a lack of protection for operators and failing an impact test, the administration said.
