More than 160 residents in East China's Zhejiang province were hospitalized for suspected food poisoning on Friday, chinanews.com reported.
The sufferers of the suspected food poisoning are workers, and their families, from a factory in Ningbo, Zhejiang province. Of those being treated, 10 are children, with the youngest being only 11 months old.
On Thursday, the factory provided cakes to staff members and their families, who confirmed from the hospital on Friday that they ate the cakes prior to falling sick, according to the report.
Mao Hongxia, a doctor in the city, performed preliminary checks on the group and estimated their condition as suspected food poisoning.
On Friday, the government in the Zhenhai district of Ningbo published an update on a micro blog that stated no one of those treated is in serious condition and all have received urgent treatment.
