A traffic vessel between Ganquan Island and Yongxing Island in Sansha city finishes its first trial sail and returns to harbor at Yongxing Island on May 30, 2013. The trial sail, mainly around the waters of the Qilianyu subgroup of Yongxing Island, was prepared for future inter-island traffic. Currently, traffic between islands in Sansha city relies on fishing boats and small traffic boats, which are slow and not secure enough. The future Ganquan Islands traffic vessel will relieve this problem. As China's youngest city, Sansha was officially set up in July last year on Yongxing Island in the South China Sea. The city administers three island groups - Xisha, Zhongsha and Nansha - and their surrounding waters in the South China Sea. [Photo/Xinhua] |
