The High-Level Non-governmental Dialogue between China and the Southeast Asian Nations will be held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on June 3-4, under the theme of "seeking mutual development through peace and cooperation."
The two-day event will host senior officials from 11 Southeast Asian nations including Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia, according to You Jianhua, the event's organizer and head of the China NGO Network for International Exchanges.
The dialogue will highlight issues confronting both China and the Southeast Asian nations, and is expected to boost non-governmental cooperation on livelihood improvement, You said.
According to the agenda, delegates will discuss people's roles in promoting China-ASEAN relations and exchange views on effective measures to deepen cooperation. On June 4, delegates will visit Fangchenggang, a key port city in Guangxi.
"China needs to strengthen people-to-people exchanges with neighboring countries to hammer out misunderstandings and false judgments," You said, adding that "through this dialogue, we hope to show Chinese people's love of peace and expectations for mutual development."
