Parents in the Ningxia Hui autonomous region raised concerns over an alcohol advertisement that appeared in dictionaries donated to pupils.
The father of second-grade primary school student, Ma, saw the advertisement for Kweichou Moutai printed on the title page of a Chinese dictionary, local news portal Nxnews.net reported on Tuesday.
The report said the liquor maker donated a total of 60,000 dictionaries to students in Yinchuan.
The Kweichou Moutai website shows that the company donated 1.5 million dictionaries to students in China's western areas since the second half of 2012, worth 15.75 million yuan ($2.57 million).
Publication authorities said the advertisement was an error as the target audience was young pupils.
