More than 300 architectural technicians have been sent to Japan to learn about the design of earthquake resistant buildings after the catastrophic earthquake in Southwest China's Sichuan province in 2008.

The training program was jointly launched by the China Architecture Design and Research Group and Japan's International Cooperation Agency on May 12, 2009, exactly one year after the earthquake. The program is supported by a fund of more than 480 million yen ($4.85 million) and set to end in May.

Japanese experts also provide training for another ten thousand people in China through the program.
