HAIKOU- The preliminary cause of a road accident that occurred in south China's Hainan province on November 29 has been verified, according to the province's work safety administration.

A preliminary report created by the bureau's investigatory team stated that the accident was caused by overloading, as well as by one of the vehicles involved driving in the wrong lane.

The investigatory team sent the report to the provincial government on Monday.

The accident occurred at 3:40 pm on November 29, when a truck crashed head-on with a medium-sized bus that was carrying 23 passengers near the city of Wuzhishan, according to the provincial traffic police headquarters.

The drivers of both vehicles died at the scene and the injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital, sources with the Wuzhishan fire brigade said.
