At least a million men in China have fertility problems, the Beijing Times reported on Monday.
According to a research, millions of men have prostatic disorders in China, the report said. More than a million men have been found to be infertile, and 50 percent of men over the age of 40 have ED (erectile dysfunction), the paper said.
The increase in male infertility is closely related to increasing pressure in day-to-day life and environmental deterioration, Ye Linyang, director of the urology department of Beijing-based 304 Military Hospital, told the paper. "Symptoms of male menopause which should appear in men above 60 can now be found in men around 40," said Ye.
A public education campaign on men's health will be launched by the China Health Education Center, the paper said. The campaign aims to reach 250 million people, 20 percent of the total population, through publicity on posters and distributing health education handbooks, the paper said.
