BEIJING - China on Wednesday slammed a US report regarding the former's religious situation, saying it firmly opposes the United States intervening in China's domestic affairs by issuing such a report.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu made the remarks at a regular press briefing.

"China is firmly opposed to the US attacking its religious rights situation by issuing reports of this nature year after year and  interfering with China's internal affairs," Jiang said when asked to comment on the report.

The US State Department released its July-December, 2010 International Religious Freedom Report on Tuesday, which continues to show concern for religious freedom in China.

"Chinese people across all ethnic groups enjoy the full freedom to practice religious beliefs in accordance with the law," Jiang said, adding that China urges the US to exert greater efforts toward the development of bilateral relations.
