Apple Inc has opened a store in the Peking University library, taking over an area that had been a student study room and annoying students, the Beijing Evening News reported.

The store aroused heated discussion on the university's online forum. Many students thought it should not be in the library because it would be too noisy. Some also complained that the university's remaining study room was too crowded.

The store, which covers about 40 square meters, was a trial. The products were not being sold, but teachers and students could try them out. They could then order through the store and receive a discount.
